Chief Executive Report
Since acquisition in Spring 2011, we have been concentrating on steadying the business, improving our effectiveness and setting strong foundations for the future growth expectations. In the short term, we will be continuing with these initiatives.
Our longer term plan is centred upon growth in the construction and service provision markets, where we believe we offer a creditable alternative in the marketplace.
Our greatest challenge is to grow organically in the current climate and to maintain the high levels of quality and service that our clients expect. Our re-branding provides a unique opportunity to change ‘the way we do things’ so that we are ready for the challenges ahead.
At O’Rourke Contracting, we believe our greatest asset is our people and the passion we have for both our staff and our clients has instigated the developments taking place. We are fervently committed to creating and delivering the future growth targets we have set and we are investing heavily in our training and process development to support our people in meeting those targets.
Health, safety and welfare is fundamental to our existence and we will be working toward creating a generative approach to safety to develop a culture where safety is ‘how we do business around here’.
We are undertaking a full review of ‘the way we do things’ and ensuring that those processes are right for the future of the business. We are investing in our appearance through the re-branding and we have involved our people in the introduction of work wear and new vehicle livery, to set a high standard of appearance that will be associated with the new brand and provide something that our people will be proud of.
We have committed investment in our plant and vehicles planned for next year to modernise those assets and improve productivity.
Since the acquisition, earlier this year, we have seen the company turnover grow significantly in the latter part of the year and we are looking forward to meeting next years targets comfortably.
