O’Rourke help lay the foundations for the expansion of Sainsbury’s and Westwood Cross.
O’Rourke have delivered on another outstanding project for their returning client ISG in Broadstairs, Thanet. The new Sainsbury’s supermarket in Westwood Cross is a project which strengthens the working relationship for future ventures.
Beginning in May and running until the close of November the project required the laying of over 25,000 square meters of carpark, carriageways and footpaths, 13,000 of which sat underneath the store.
The works are worth around one million pounds and demanded between 7 to 14 men onsite every day.
The new store will replace the existing store located on Margate Road and forms part of wider plans for Westwood Cross, which include the construction of new shops and restaurants, benefiting the residents of Broadstairs with an investment in their community environment.
‘The project, as part of a really important expansion within Thanet and the wider area of Kent, demonstrates O’Rourke’s abilities across large-scale projects.
As a company we’re delighted to be involved in development works of this nature and look forward to seeing the completed project build from our groundwork,’ said Bob Weedon, Surfacing Operations Lead.
The project ran exactly to the original schedule despite huge last-minute changes to the scope of works. It is hoped that the success of this project will help to sustain the healthy working relationship with international construction services company ISG and secure projects in the future.
